The first best practice in managing FSMO is keeping Domain Naming Master and the Schema Master on the similar domain controller to abridge the management of the functions and ensure that the domain controller consists of a Global Catalog copy. The second practice is that in every domain, there is the placement of the RID master and PDC Emulator roles on the similar domain controller and ensure that the machine hardware can hold the capacity of the functions and other responsibilities it needs to do. The final practice is that in every domain, the Infrastructure Master role needs to be ensured that it does not hold by the domain controller, which also stores the Global Catalog. However, one should make sure that the Infrastructure Master is a straight replication of a domain controller partner that hosts the Global Catalog that stays in a similar place as the Infrastructure Master.
