In data warehouse administration, a factless fact table is a fact table that lacks any measures. Essentially, it is defined as a table that lacks any measures as it is an intersection of dimensions (Hira & Deshpande, 2018). Therefore, it contains nothing but dimensional keys. The majority of factless fact tables are categorized into two types which include the ones for capturing an event or the one for describing conditions. The following is a STAR schema with a factless fact table that tracks patients within a hospital by diagnostic procedures and time.
