Social media has had a significant presence in organizations and social activist activities (Lovejoy & Saxton, 2012). The digital platforms are critical in the daily operations, especially on communication, among staffs in these organizations and digital activism. The same scenario is evident in my community, where social media has a huge presence. Some of the social media platforms common in the community include Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp. Facebook Facebook is one of the critical social media sites, which has a huge following among the public (Wilson, Gosling & Graham, 2012), and in my community. The popularity with Facebook is primarily because of its huge number of users in the country and in the community. In this regard, communication between community members and other intended parties would be flawless. In continuation, Facebook features such as sharing of videos are critical in the community, as it passes information in motion and audio. Twitter Twitter is the other social media platform used in by the community to connect with its members and pass information (Kwak et al., 2010). Twitter is famous for passing social information with its # hashtag. For instance, the community utilizes this platform to pass information on vital societal problems. The community draws inspiration on the use of this social platform, like in the case of # Me Too campaign WhatsApp This is the other social media platform, which is instrumental in communication among members of the community. WhatsApp has been instrumental in passing short messages and information among members of the community, with the group administrator controlling the proceedings. In conclusion, the community understands the importance of social media in its communication and cohesion. The community as the rest of organizations and agencies embraces social media platform in all its operations, to accrue its benefits.
