Zacharias in his updated 2011 version explores the waning power of the U.S is evident. There is a continual shift in power and economic strength from the U.S to a country like China. The Doha round, where there was a discussion of less trade barrier is making the U.S policies weaker daily. Furthermore, because of the U.S contribution in global economic meltdowns, with one of the example being in 2008, global nations are shifting from overreliance of the U.S, to avoid future problems. The fact that the developing countries are failing to converse with developed nations spells doom to a state like the U.S, which traditionally has been finding its ways in the negotiating table. Zacharias predicts that power shifts from developed countries will continue in the near future.
