The practice of open governing is catching up with global countries, which apply it in their administrations (Heckmann, 2011). Besides, companies are applying this system in a bid to increase transparency, collaboration, and participation. For maximum benefit, some firms are incorporating technology into their open government systems. An example of a firm utilizing technology to foster open government is Patagonia Inc. Patagonia supply chain transparency Patagonia is an American company selling sustainable outdoor clothing. The company’s operation is an example of open government since it exhibits transparency, collaboration, and participation. Patagonia’s supply chain utilizes technology to enhance its reputation as an open government. The company established a website, where it contains videos explaining how each product made while adhering to the set social and environmental standards. The company through videos posted on its website shows a project known as “Footprint Chronicles,” which aims at increasing its transparency to the public (Kaye, 2012). These videos show every step its products undertake before it reaches consumers. The company posts these videos to eliminate any public doubt on whether Patagonia’s products are social or environmentally fit. Patagonia’s website provides a link where customers can click to access its videos. The business encourages users of this site to raise any questions, on what they saw as not fit in its overall supply chain. The firm then responds on the same video on the problem noticed. Moreover, Patagonia is open to any suggestions on supply chain improvement from the public through the website. In this respect, the company combines both technology and open government to run its affairs. The transparency and participation of the public on the business’s website illustrates the successful incorporation of technology into its open government. References Heckmann, D. (2011, January).
