The digital divide is a significant problem that federal, state and the local government faces in offering its services. However, the public organization has put in place measures to curb the issue of divide by laying down various initiatives that have been implemented. Global connect initiative is an excellent example of such an initiative. Global connect initiative (DCI) was initiated by the US government to connect 1.5 billion people by 2020 (Cullen, 2001). It was developed on the basis that connection is essential for economic growth since it raises marketing, promotes ventures, invention, and employment. DCI emphasizes on expanding the availability of network connection worldwide by giving priority to connection agenda. This initiative has helped to connect many stakeholders through the internet usage in businesses since information and communication have been made easier. Therefore, the digital divide in business has been solved. This has been evident in the raised economy as a result of internet usage. The DCI also has tried to solve the digital geographic divide by ensuring there is available, reliable, and expanded the connectivity of internet from the organizations to the locals, which has created a general flow of information and communication (Cullen, 2001). This has been possible by putting structures in place to allow connectivity across the regions. The initiative also has developed an action plan that is, region-specific including which region needs more focus when it comes to the internet connectivity; thus, ensuring successful connectivity among the regions. Generation divide also has been bridged by ensuring that digital literacy among the citizen is given much attention. Proper skills and education in communication ensure an in-depth understanding of digital technology, therefore, having these digital skills bridges the gap. In short, the implementation of Global Connect Initiative has had success in closing down the bridge in the digital divide. Now, several people have access to the internet.
