In 1984, Eisner Michael was appointed the CEO of the Walt Disney
Company, and he came in and implemented a raft of measures to rejuvenate the
company. His primary focus was to increase media coverage of the company.
During the first four years when he took charge, he implemented the following
measures; Stimulating the animation division; his primary role was to
revitalize the animation division of Disney. His approach to tackling this is
employing new and talented individuals in the company. He also directed a large
junk of finances to the animation technologies that improved the quality of
movies created (Leonard,2020).
Investing in new attraction sites and parks: Leonard (2020)
highlights that having new parks was attractive to its content consumers. That
inspired him to direct more company resources to have new attraction sites and
parks. During his tenure, he oversaw the opening of Tokyo Disneyland in 1983,
and in 1987 there were plans to open a new park in Florida. Expanding revenue
stream; During his tenure, Eisner oversaw the expansion of Disney to other
revenue streams, such as investing in the retail stores publishing industry,
which would act as a source of more revenue to the company in addition to the
existing channels.
With all these strategies, the company doubled its revenue from
$ 68 million to $226 million in 1998. Eisner's strategies worked, and he was
recognized as the person who rejuvenated Disney to success.
